The Norwich Campus of SUNY Morrisville has been serving the Norwich community and the surrounding areas for more than 46 years, offering students associate degree options such as Criminal Justice, Computer Information Technology, and Nursing. About our Program:
SUNY Morrisville has been a demonstrated leader in technical education of renewable energy graduates since 2009. This position would join a vibrant faculty and staff dedicated to renewable energy systems. This position is tightly linked with SUNY Morrisville's newly constructed Agricultural and Clean Energy Technology (ACET) Center (2021), which houses 30,000 square-feet of experiential indoor laboratories dedicated to solar PV installation, solar hot water, wind installation and maintenance, tower climbing safety and rescue, clean heating and cooling (including heat pumps), and biofuels. It has an 86-kW solar PV array dedicated to teaching and learning at the small commercial scale available to this position.

Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville seeks a Postdoctoral fellow to join our Environmental and Renewable Resources Division! This person will focus on technical education at the undergraduate level and workforce development. Workforce development grants, program expansion, and curriculum development are expected from the successful candidate. Typical contact hour expectations (lectures plus labs) are 14-17 hours/week each semester. Most courses have a structure with 2 lecture hours and 2 or 3 lab hours each week.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Teaching undergraduate courses
• Growing workforce development training opportunities through SUNY Morrisville's Renewable Energy Training Center
• Providing outreach and recruitment efforts
• Growing the workforce development capacity will include pursuing funding and implementing workforce training, as well as developing partnerships with industry and other educational institutions.
• Curriculum development for renewable energy college courses and workforce development is expected, with a focus on meeting current and future industry demand.
• In addition to teaching, faculty members have an expectation of service to the campus community through committees, program review and assessment, and activities such as student club advising.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• A Ph.D. in Renewable or Sustainable Energy, Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a closely related terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to the start date.
• Some teaching experience at the collegiate or vocational level in a related/relevant discipline
• Demonstrated personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Renewable energy industry experience (e.g., hands-on technical experience in solar, wind, HVAC/heat pumps, and/or tower climbing)
• Industry relevant certifications, such as NABCEP, IGSHPA, EPA 608, Competent Climber/Rescuer
• Proficient with learning management systems (LMS), such as Brightspace, Blackboard, etc.
• Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and/or HyFlex modalities
• Proficient with MS office suite
Preference will be given to candidates who are:
• Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
• From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans
