Job Description
Many of the world's top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community's interaction with water a bit differently-as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. By 2025 we're hiring 2,000 people (like you) to join our team. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Do you want to be part of a collaborative team that puts people first, lives its corporate values, and works on some of the most challenging water projects in the world? Join us.

The Columbus office is part of Stantec's North Region team consisting of nearly 400 water professionals working together to produce high quality deliverables on projects throughout the region. As a process engineer, you will work in a supportive team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure design projects that include water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and pump stations. Tasks may include performing engineering calculations, preparing detailed design drawings and specifications, preparing planning and technical engineering reports, and designing pump stations, treatment systems and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with national process technical subject matter experts and discipline leadership engaged in advanced research and design to incorporate standards of practice and lessons learned to bring Stantec's wealth of knowledge each client and project.
  • Lead design tasks as part of a project team.
  • Exercise independent judgment to analyze issues, interpret information and select methods/solutions to resolve problems and meet project requirements.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior level staff, including assigning tasks, coaching, and checking work.
  • Perform site visits, participate in condition assessments, and observe construction, as necessary.
  • Continually acquire new knowledge of and experience with a variety of innovative technologies, treatment approaches, and design tools.
  • Suggest practices to contribute to sustainable development goals.
  • Communicate effectively with large project teams, clients, and industry professionals.
  • Adapt to project changes and develop solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Provide technical support on project pursuits in collaboration with business development leaders.
  • Expand your professional network within the water industry through interactions with clients, regulatory agencies, other consulting firms, and industry organizations.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of process/mechanical engineering and/or civil/environmental engineering.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and related BIM systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, lead projects and teams, and coach and mentor others.
