Research & Development Lab Manager
Full Time
The individual will work under the direction of the Vice President of Technology to maintain and improve the operation of the Research & Development Lab that will assist in the growth and success of the company. In addition, work closely with Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and equipment suppliers to bring forward solutions that streamline processes, broaden testing capabilities, ensure repeatability, and provide user friendly reporting.
Opportunities
-Management Role (Priority 1)
Define and improve procedures with Manufacturing to collect required film samples.
Define, maintain, and improve indexed storage systems for all film samples.
Responsible for defining and performing routine validation and advanced calibration procedures and maintaining calibration records.
Identify ongoing lab equipment needs.
Train and assist R&D Technicians to ensure proper skill development.
-Lab Role (Priority 2)
Analyze generated R&D data for precision and accuracy, adjusting and improving workflows as needed.
Ability to complete, record, and interpret all testing types in R&D Laboratory
Tensile, DSC, Barrier, COF, Microscope, etc.
Complete competitive analysis on a variety of films and packages of known and unknown compositions.
Collaborate with Development Team on test methods and equipment.
-Quality Role (Priority 3)
Complete standard quality testing and collected data entry.
Understand the importance of different test methods and how they relate to film performance in the field.
Utilize our quality and sample retention systems for research and analysis.
-Production Role (Priority 4)
Follow new products and collect data trends.
Understanding of blown film extrusion in a commercial application.
-IT Role (Priority 5)
Understand how multiple systems work in unison to find and share data as needed.
Lead discussions on where we want to take our systems moving forward.
