Job Summary:
The AMI Capital Project Engineering (CPE) Team is a critical part of the broader AMI Operations Team tasked with delivering capital improvement projects across twenty-three AMI operating facilities in the Midwest. The CPE Team is responsible for partnering with Operations Leadership to identify and implement projects that improve the safety, reliability, and productivity of AMI
operating facilities to efficiently deliver high quality product to AMI customers. AMI CPE projects are diverse and complex; often requiring evaluation and delivering on a balance of maintenance of assets and process improvements in one comprehensive project.
The CPE Project Engineer is responsible for assigned projects from start to finish. This includes, defining project objectives, soliciting and incorporating stakeholder feedback into scope optionality, driving to decisions on scope, and delivering on time and within budget. Key activities for this role span across scope development, cost estimates and approval documentation, equipment
specification, overseeing and/or performing detail design, developing construction packages, construction management, pre-start up safety reviews, and closing out invoices.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Lead the definition phase of the project to create stakeholder alignment on project objectives.
• Create value with our capital investments through evaluating scope options and tradeoffs to ensure we have scope optimized projects to meet our short- and long-term goals.
• Development of cost estimates, project schedules, and financial approval documentation.
• Understand the process requirements and develop equipment specifications.
• Develop rationale for equipment selection when multiple options are acceptable with different cost, or a single documented standard is not in place.
• Support or lead design of various processing equipment such as pumps, mixers, tanks, boilers, and heat exchangers.
• Define design basis and create scope of work for outside engineering firms to complete detail design and oversee work.
• Develop construction scopes of work and oversee the bidding process. Complete bid evaluation, recommend contractors for hire, and lead construction oversight.
• Define functional specifications, setpoint, and interlocks for control engineering firms to complete proper programming and configuration.
• Interface with health, safety, and environmental team to ensure projects meet all internal and external requirements including pre-startup safety reviews.
• Interface with the finance team to coordinate completion of economic analysis for all cost savings projects as well as handling and closing out invoices.
• Evaluate processes to identify and define process improvement opportunities.
• Collect process data and equipment information in the field, as necessary. This information will only be available in the field at times.
• Coordinate with site operations team during front end engineering and scope development through construction completion and ensure completion of site requirements.
• Support development of the processes, standards, and guidelines used by the CPE Team.

Requirements:
• BS Degree in an Engineering field required.
• Minimum 2 years of Project Engineering experience in a processing facility.
• Experience in all phases of Project Engineering from objective definition through commissioning and start up. Familiar with various engineering disciplines and controls automation.
• Experience with P&ID development and process design.
• Experience with equipment design specifically pumps, tanks, boilers, and pipe sizing.
• Familiarity with construction permits.
• Ability to understand processes through reviewing an engineering drawing or the physical equipment in the process.
• Independent, innovative, and confident thinker with the ability to prioritize tasks based on multiple project milestone plans.
• Organized with strong diligence, capable of understanding risks and when to proceed forward without all the details.
• Must exhibit a keen sense of judgement in decision making and possess the ability to identify which decisions require alignment from various stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a less structured environment and seek information to progress project when documentation is not available.
• Leads issue resolution, anticipate potential problems, and maintains safety while driving project activity to meet deadlines.
• Approximately 25% travel as required to support project related activity.
Preferred Experience:
• HAZOP and Management of Change Procedures (PSM).
• Designing steam or hot oil utility systems.
• Knowledge of air and water permitting requirements.
• API 650 and 653 and mechanical integrity programs.
• 2D or 3D Auto Cad.
• Familiar with hydraulic modeling and calculations.
