The Director of Nursing (DON) under the direction of theExecutive Director has 24-hour responsibility for nursing care of all residentsthrough the performance of nursing personnel as outlined in their jobdescriptions. Is responsible for adherence to all State and Federal Guidelinesfor Skilled Nursing Facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE:
• Direct Resident Care: Is ultimatelyresponsible for the assessment of resident's needs (MDS) and development ofresident's plan of care with goals to ensure the residents are able to achieveoptimal care and services.
• Supervision: Regularly evaluatesthe progress toward these goals by resident rounds, observation of staff andchange of shift reports.
• Regulatory Requirements: Isresponsible to audit charts regularly to ensure pertinent and accuratedocumentation has been completed including Medication Administration Records(MARS), treatment sheets, Flow Sheets, incident reports and Acute Change inCondition.
• Staffing and Training: Is directlyresponsible for the interviewing, hiring, training, counseling and evaluationof nursing personnel, creation of nursing schedules according to budgeted hoursand State Minimum Staffing Patterns.
• Organizational Duties: Isresponsible for the disposal of narcotics according to policy, end of monthMedication reviews, education to all staff according to policy, incidentreporting process, restorative nursing program, performance improvement andinfection control program
• Graduateof an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse.
• LicensedRN in the State of Michigan
• Has aminimum of 5-years' experience as a Nurse Supervisor in a Skilled NursingFacility.
