Description Job DescriptionLeidos is seeking an experienced IT Security Engineer to support the NASA Langley Research Center's Center Operations Directorate (COD). The role requires in-depth technical knowledge of Cybersecurity principles and ensures that security risks are mitigated using available tools. Under general direction of Leidos and in coordination with the NASA Cybersecurity & Privacy Program (CSPP), is responsible for all activities relating to Cybersecurity procedures and systems. In coordination with Government, develops Cybersecurity programs and control guidelines.

- Implement the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes for new and existing information systems
- Facilitate development of Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), Interconnection Security Agreements (ISA), Risk Acceptance Letters (RAL) and support Continuous Monitoring (CONMON)
- Develop Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations under NIST SP 800-53 via a System Security Plan and associated artifacts
- Coordinate with system administrators and engineering in the development and management of POAMS and RBDs
- Assess and test/analyze data to document state of compliance with security requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and investigations, identify and perform appropriate risk mitigations, and oversee incident response activities
- Conduct regular hardware/software inventory assessments
- Act as advisor to stakeholders regarding assessment and authorization risk mitigation recommendations
- Develop and conduct decision briefings to senior NASA officials.
- Develops technical security solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, advanced analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution.
- Develops solutions to technical security problems and issues that may be unclear but require technical security compliance knowledge.
- Communicates with internal and client project team members.
- Requires understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical security domains and has advanced understanding of other related IT security areas.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering or related field with 6 years of experience working in information systems security operations
- Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance
- Proven experience developing, operating and maintaining security for information systems
- Extensive knowledge of operating system and database security
- Proficiency in networking technologies, network security and network monitoring solutions
- Knowledge of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems and intrusion detection and notification systems
- In-depth knowledge of security protocols and principles
- Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems
Preferred Qualifications- 10+ years of cybersecurity operations experience with and advanced understanding of information systems security operations
- Advanced understanding of ITSM processes and experience with agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe using technologies like Jira or ServiceNow

Pay Range: Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
