ROLE OVERVIEW

The Chief of Staff, Superintendent will be a results-driven self-starter who plays a key role in the success of Camden schools. The Chief of Staff will support the Superintendent in achieving goals and advancing key decisions and initiatives to support the vision and strategy for the future of Camden schools. The Chief of Staff will serve on the Superintendent's Executive Leadership Team.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree required
  • Three years of experience working directly with superintendents, executive cabinet leaders, school board members, non-profits or community representatives, strongly preferred
  • Experience in an urban school district preferred

    • Leading strategic educational initiatives
    • Coalition and relationship building across a diverse group of stakeholders
    • Leading significant cross-functional initiatives in diverse and complex organizational settings
    • Thriving in an achievement-oriented and fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • A valid driver's license as well as current insurance and vehicle with valid registration
  • Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides project management leadership by overseeing strategic cross functional short and long term initiatives from conception through successful implementation designed to achieve the goals of the district.
  • Lead the strategic planning process for the District to ensure the Superintendent's vision is translated into specific and measurable annual goals and lead the assessment and tracking of progress towards District strategic goals.
  • Oversees the development of policies and procedures that ensures the proactive identification of systems and processes that need to be clarified for the District and works with cross-functional teams to come to a resolution and communicates these policies and procedures through the creation and implementation of District-wide handbooks and training.
  • Anticipates, identifies and troubleshoots issues of concern or significance; exercises discretion to provide timely information and necessary updates across multiple stakeholders; responds to routine inquiries.
  • Collaborates with the Superintendent to manage and address urgent and sensitive issues that arise frequently in the rapidly changing environment of the District and collaborates closely with colleagues across executive divisions to achieve rapid, effective solutions.
  • Plans and facilitates high-quality meetings and events, including scheduling, coordinating, agenda and material preparation and timely follow-up on next steps- including executive retreats.
  • Manage the Office of the Superintendent to ensure the office's operations, communications and weekly agenda items are aligned with the strategic vision of theSuperintendent.
  • Convene and organize the Executive Leadership Team to ensure division operations, services and emergent issues are addressed as needed and are aligned with the strategic priorities.
  • Prepare agenda for critical external and internal meetings, including monthly Board meetings
  • Develop and continuously enhance, in partnership with the Chief Communications Officer, an integrated communications network within and between schools, departments, and the community in order to support an effective work environment.
  • Recommend, in partnership with the Chief Talent Officer, (1) organizational structure that supports the Superintendent's vision and (2) policies and practices that will cultivate strong organizational culture and high levels of staff performance
  • Provide administrative oversight for the preparation of any senior level reports requested by the Superintendent; assure the completion of reports and interpretations of related data for the administration, staff and the public to promote effective decision making by executive staff, site-based administrators and the Superintendent.
  • Meet regularly with and advise the Superintendent of unusual trends or problems and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Analyze and manage sensitive issues that arise frequently in the rapidly changing environment of the Superintendent's office where improper handling may have serious consequences for the school district.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for CCSD staff, departments, and community members.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

SALARY, EMPLOYMENT PERIOD, AND UNION AFFILIATION

Salary Range:
  • Competitive based on qualifications and previous experience
