Your Opportunity
The role of a Senior Structural Engineer is to lead engineering teams on large projects. They will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful transportation projects including bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.
The Senior Structural Engineer will provide direct supervision; act as an advisor and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
It is expected that the Senior Structural Engineer supports business development and the delivery of proposals. Under general supervision, plan, design, and direct structural engineering projects. Manage resources and schedules in response to specified completion dates and technical applications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates and evaluate all project progress and recommends changes, if needed, in final procedures.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Review and sealing of structural / bridge plans as EOR;
- Supervise the work of other structural engineers;
- Liaise with clients, agencies and others to obtain structural plan approvals;
- Manage and monitor structures team budget;
- Perform tasks on complex projects as SME and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members;
- Prepare technical memos for clients or reviewing agencies;
- Manage client relationships and support business development.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to lead one or more structures teams through all phases of project document production.
- Technical expert in all relevant areas of design and understanding of various design methods.
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Proficient in CsiBridge and any other relevant structural design and analysis software.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Understands client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, invoicing and collecting accounts receivable.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field.
- Licensed WA Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain a WA PE license. WA Structural Engineer license preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, WSDOT project experience preferred.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
