Description Job DescriptionLeidos' Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) group is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer. As a member of the CM Team, the Senior Technical Writer will work alongside program managers, engineers and actively lead internal and cross functional professionals to process technical and non-technical changes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of drawings, schematics, software and documentation. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret and apply policies, processes, procedures and technical data standards and maintain awareness for continuous improvement opportunities in accordance with Leidos and industry standards.
Responsibilities - Author and edit product, project, and technical infrastructure documents, including procedures, processes, functional descriptions, system specifications, reports, manuals, guidelines, training, business proposals, briefings and presentations, special reports, service manuals, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
- Create technical/non-technical documents and procedures, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner to ensure the accuracy of the process.
- Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and management ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
- Manage and maintain Technical Publications Manual to align with industry standards and latest Leidos and program directives.
- Effectively communicate with document authors during the editing process and, when necessary, interview technical staff to obtain additional information required for the documentation.
- Works independently under general direction to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.
- Responsible for entire technical writing projects or processes; to include, coaching and reviewing the work of subordinates.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline tech writing processes, standardize templates, maintain proper status accounting, and procedural implementation.
- Incorporation of redlines, template management, and maintaining publication standardization.
- Manage the development and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables - perform technical edit and support quality reviews; perform document conversion and test where needed.
- Develops solutions to problems and issues that are unclear and require thorough analyses and understanding of domain knowledge.
- Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
- Review and analyze program data deliveries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Communicates with internal and client project team members.
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Communicate regularly cross functionally to assure requirements, milestones, and commitments are met.
- Experience handling highly regulated, classified or sensitive data.
- Prepare for and support functional and physical configuration audits.
- Support in a CM capacity, when necessary, as allowable per program requirements driving Technical Writing activities
- General data-entry.
Qualifications - 6-8 + years of experience in Technical Writing or equivalent discipline.
- BS degree and/or experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Has full understanding of concepts, principles, and industry practices within own discipline.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Advanced to Expert Word and MS Excel knowledge.
- Experienced in the fundamental principles of Technical Writing: to include but not limited to
- Proficient in tech writing tools, FrameMaker, Arbortext, XML and/or equivalent tools or platforms.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills, organization, problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Excellent time management, communication, and prioritization skills
- Ability to travel 10-15% -CONUS/OCONUS
- Thrives in a team environment.
- Must be able to join meetings via web-cam 80% of the time
Salary will be $80-90k.

Pay Range: Pay Range $61,750.00 - $111,625.00
