The Computational Biosciences Group in the Computational Research Division at Berkeley Lab is seeking a Machine Learning Postdoctoral Scholar. This position will focus on developing and applying methods to integrate LLMs and GNNs at scale, combining sequence and structure modalities of proteins towards enhancement of protein function.
What You Will Do:- Develop and apply methods to integrate LLMs and GNNs at scale.
- Analyze AI model outputs.
- Write high-quality code.
- Prepare visualizations of data results.
- Present results to colleagues and scientific audiences.
- Publish data and write papers.
Additional Responsibilities as Needed:What is Required:- PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, data science, or related fields.
- Experience with LLM and/or GNNs.
- Must be able to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment and exhibit good communication skills.
- Experience with scientific programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python).
Notes:- This is a full-time, 2-year, postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.
- This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
- The monthly salary range for this position is $6,431-$8,642 and is expected to start at $7,843 or above. Postdoctoral positions are paid on a step schedule per union contract and salaries will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates. Each step represents one full year of completed post-Ph.D. postdoctoral experience.
