**JOB SUMMARY**

The OR Imaging Technologist in the operating rooms and/or hybrid room at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in patient care by serving as a patient advocate, protects patient and employees' by adhering to safety requirements, and maintaining sterile techniques during surgical procedures. They are responsible for maintaining production and quality of imaging procedures by following surgeons' request.  They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, coaching and assisting team members, demonstrating technical and performance competency, cross-training in various lab areas, and helping achieve departmental goals.

 

**JOB FUNCTIONS**

Patient Advocate: 
 • Protects patients from potential injury; selects operative setups and supplies to maintain sterile technique during all procedures.
 • Actively participates in universal protocol (time out) procedures.
 

Customer Service:
 • Uses AIDET when communicating with patients to explains post operative imaging taken in recovery rooms.
 

Management of Team:
 • Coaches and assists team members in preparation, use and maintenance of portable, C-arm, O-arm and/or hybrid room equipment.
 • Assists in the training of all new employees for operating room procedures.
 

Performance Competency: 
 • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
 • Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, and radiation policies, protocols and techniques.
 • Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
 • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education and skills appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department): newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
 

Technical Competency:
 • Provides diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under the direction of a physician/surgeon while maintaining proper radiation protection standards.
 • Performs radiologic exams with designated OR equipment of designated anatomy to physician/surgeon specifications within the operating room.
 • Adheres to necessary safety precautions and sterile techniques.
 • Able to move imaging equipment safely in the OR room setting. Turn equipment on and adjust quality of images to perform exams.
 

Cross Training:
 • On call as required by cardiovascular department.
 • Able to prepare injector with contrast and verifies proper injector settings, under the supervision of the surgeon.
 
 

Goals and Objectives:
 • Able to perform high quality intraoperative procedures according to surgeon specifications in a timely manner.
 • Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established system and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
 • Able to perform tasks exclusively without need for routine oversight.
 • Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
 

Regulatory:
 • Knowledge and practice of standards of care, policies/procedures established by North Mississippi Medical Center.
