Devoted Studios is a production management company for external development in video games. With a mission to create equal opportunity for all talent globally to work on the games of their dreams, Devoted Studios aims to decentralize game development. We partner with 1400+ programmers, artists, and designers, from freelancers to small studios, all over the world, and not only match them to project opportunities but manage the production from A-Z.

We are seeking a Creative Director to lead the artistic vision of our projects. The ideal candidate will oversee the creative direction, ensuring cohesive visual and narrative elements while guiding and inspiring the team. Strong leadership, innovation, and communication skills are essential.

*This is a remote, full-time contracted position and we are hiring worldwide!

MAJOR ZONES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle all aspects of design including creative writing all the design documents, making UI mockups, charting user flows, prototypes etc.
  • Provide game-design expertise working with the team to clearly define all aspects of the game that impact the end-user, including math, game play, interface, animation, sound, art style.
  • Communicate designs with clear and concise documentation.
  • Deliver clear and concise client's ready product specs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  • Direct devs/art teams to create quality gameplay features for the client's IP.
  • Develop UX wireframes for products using creative applications.
  • Research and development into cross-platform development.
  • Collaboration with art directors and animation lead to craft visuals content.
  • Work with internal and external strategic partners to create products using the most current industry best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between the marketing and creative team and between the BDs and individual clients.
  • Create and pitch game ideals to the clients.


Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with OSMs and BD on pre-production and project requirements.
  • Training external game designers to perform on the project.
  • Attend and lead playtests and be solution-oriented to the problem encountered.
  • Working with clients to define and execute their product goals.
  • Leading regular meetings with other designers and team members.
  • Supervise and be responsible for providing structured project documents.
  • Understand consumer needs and ensure that the elements developed by the team will contribute to player satisfaction and enjoyment.
  • Attend and lead playtests and be solution-oriented to the problem encountered
  • Communicate the project objectives, strategies, gameplay intentions are understood and that team members are working on the right elements.
  • Actively participate in the decision-making process with stakeholders.
  • Follow-up on prototyping with programmers.
  • Allocate duties and follow the evolution of the team's progress on game design deliverables.
  • Supervise development projects.
  • Create required project game design documentation.
  • Pitch new features or proposals to the clients.
  • Collaborate with BD on creating pitches and project extension proposals to be presented to the client.
  • Timely Time Tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of game design experience.
  • Strong familiarity with successful game-development processes and pipelines.
  • Experience of development tools. (Jira and Confluence/Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with best-in-class game development in any capacity (art, design, math, development, production, etc.)
  • Experience working with Unity or Unreal engines.
  • Experience in creating and owning features for games.
  • Strong ability to design and implement game systems.
  • Natural ability for problem solving without outside direction.
  • Well organized and can plan tasks for engineers and artists.
  • Experience working with changing priorities and quickly adapting to new development requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
