Job Description
This position provides expert-level knowledge and financial oversight for clinical research to be conducted at Northside Hospital (NH) facilities, including clinical research supported by federal funding, foundation grants, industry sponsors and Northside Hospital. The individual in this position will have the communication, organization and analytical skills necessary to help operationalize the policies, procedures and processes that define the manner in which clinical research is to be conducted at NH. This individual will manage administrative and financial operations within the Central Research Department including contracting, budgeting, accounting, and research billing and compliance. This individual will work with the Research Program Director to develop and implement the strategic plan for research to ensure quality and compliance in the NH research program. This position must possess extensive knowledge of applicable research and financial regulations and guidelines to compliantly manage the department REQUIRED : • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, a health related field or business. • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a research healthcare environment, with four (4) years at a supervisor or manager level. • Substantial knowledge and understanding of federal clinical and billing regulations affecting clinical trials and medical research (e.g., 21 CFR Parts 11, 50, 54, 56, 312 and 812; 45 CFR Part 46). • Familiar with all research administrative business processes ranging from clinical trials, to federally-funded research grants, to sub- contract and sub-recipient agreements. • Experience working with CRNs, CRCs, Physicians and PIs. • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft applications. • General understanding of human subject protection and Institutional Review Board (IRB). • Demonstrated leadership ability. o Ability to effectively manage staff and motivate them to produce timely and competent work with minimal supervision. o Ability to develop and implement processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in research financial operations. o Effective organizational skills, effective follow-through and commitment to excellence. o Excellent professional communication skills; ability to communicate with executive-level staff in a clear and professional manner. o Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with personnel at all levels to gather information, communicate compliance requirements and handle complex issues within an often-sensitive political environment. • Must be flexible and adaptable as conditions and environment are unpredictable and change frequently. Preferred : • Healthcare experience in research finance strongly preferred
