Description

Our practice offers a full array of anesthesia services for Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center. This Macon, GA-based facility is recognized for excellence on a national level and is among the premier teaching hospitals in the United States. As the second-largest hospital in Georgia, it has 637 licensed beds for medical surgical, cardiac surgery, trauma treatment, and pediatrics. The facility has a Level I Trauma Center; a childrens hospital built in 2019; 34 operating rooms and several ancillary suites; and a stand-alone outpatient facility.

Case Assignments

General surgery, cardiac, pediatrics, OB and GYN services, ortho, trauma, plastics, ENT, urology, and neurosurgery.

 

Shifts

  • Medical direction, 4:1 ratio
  • Monday thru Friday 0700 until the cases are done (usually between 1500-1700 but could run longer)
  • Call from when the cases are done until 0700 next day Monday thru Friday
  • 24 hour beeper call on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Schedule is flexible and will be determined with other providers but no more than three weeks a month

The practice consists of 16 anesthesiologists and 58 anesthetists, including CRNAs and Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) who all work together in a care team model.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department
  • Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
  • Pre-anesthesia assessment
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
  • Performance of clinical intervention as needed

 

Requirements

  • M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • ECFMG and FLEX
  • Completion of approved residency in anesthesia
  • Currently licensed as a physician
