Job Description: The Material Handler is responsible for moving freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers. This movement can be by hand, or by forklift.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Transfer raw materials, colorants, packaging to specified storage areas
- Responsible for responding to Andon board request in a timely manner
- Transfer materials required to production lines as needed
- Must be able to accurately identify raw material needed to supply production
- Transfer FG product, WIP product from processing to specified locations as required
- Builds skids as required for production.
- Maintains inventory control of raw materials, weighing raw materials upon return from production, documenting in inventory and returning it to physical inventory.
- Maintains housekeeping in warehouse areas.
- Assist in 5's program
- Participate in monthly inventory assessments
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Seeks additional value-added activities within the job when an individual's time is not fully utilized
- Communicates regularly with supervisors and support staff
- Participates in Kaizen and corrective action events as required
- Promotes and provides feedback for continual improvement
- Performs 5S and other duties as required
SKILLS & ABILITIES: - Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and management
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and meet work standards without direct supervision
- Ability to perform basic computer skills, including data entry and navigation of internal programs
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Previous experience within a manufacturing setting preferred
- Tow motor license required
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Requirements: Individual is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend and crouch to perform job duties. Lifting of no more than 50lbs. is required.
Visual Requirements: Visual work is occasionally close to the eyes and requires the ability to read paperwork and view computer screens.
