The trauma fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon provides surgical and non-surgical care to complex orthopedic trauma patients including those with pelvic fractures, complex, intra-articular fractures, bone defect surgery, treatment of osteomyelitis, non-unions and other complex pathologies requiring advanced knowledge and skill. The individual will provide currently acceptable standards advanced care of these complex orthopedic pathologies consistent with requirements and standards of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
Board Certified or Board Eligible Orthopedic surgeon with experience at an ACS verified Level I or II trauma or who have been fellowship-trained in Orthopedic traumatology
Orthopedic Trauma coverage in the Bristol-Myer Squibb Trauma Center (BMSTC)
General Emergency Department Orthopedics coverage at Capital Health Regional Medical Center (RMC) and Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell (HPW)
Provide orthopedic coverage at Capital Healths Orthopedic Clinic at RMC
Provide in-patient orthopedic consult services on both RMC and HPW campuses
Plan and perform surgery on complex orthopedic cases including pelvic fractures, complex long bone and intra-articulator fractures, complex fractures of the upper and lower extremities
Admit and manage patients who present through the orthopedic trauma service and co-management of patients on other services
Participate in the emergency call schedule for orthopedic call
Provides post-operative care (inpatient and outpatient) within the scope of practice
Provide general orthopedic outpatient care for elective care practice as well as provide post-operative and follow-up care in an outpatient setting
Responsible for all unassigned orthopedic care and unassigned orthopedic clinical care at Capital Healths RMC and HPW campuses
Ensure all patient referrals receive timely care
Develop a trauma call schedule in addition to the Emergency Room Orthopedic service schedule coordinated by the Director of Trauma of Capital Healths Medical Staff
Be the orthopedic liaison to multi-disciplinary committees
Provide training to medical residents, physician assistant and nurse practitioners
Responsible for assisting in the development of quality metrics and programs
Comply in a timely manner with in all institution policies for professional work including credentialing, documentation, billing
Work effectively with other members of the extended inter-professional team
