Job Description
Asset Management Consultant - ( 2400033U )

Description

Many of the world's top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community's interaction with water a bit differently-as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. By 2025 we're hiring 2,000 people (like you) to join our team. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Your Opportunity

At Stantec, we approach every project we undertake-whether at the local, regional, or federal level- thoughtfully and execute it with excellence. Our Management & Technology Consulting team is a recognized leader in providing asset and organizational performance, financial, economic, funding, planning, as well as business and operational technology consulting services to communities and utilities across North America. We partner with our clients to tackle complex problems and design fit-for-purpose solutions that address their unique needs.

Our Management & Technology Consulting team is comprised of experts in their fields that guide our work with analytical rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. We're a place where you can apply your passion and collaborate with top talent on work that's critical to ensuring sustainable quality of life services in communities of all shapes and sizes.

Your Key Responsibilities

This position is an external client facing position with our Management & Technology Consulting Team, within the Asset Management Team.

As an Asset Management Consultant within the Management Consulting Team, you will be supporting asset, organizational, financial, infrastructure funding, economic, and technology consulting services to local governments and utilities in North America.

The successful candidate will:
  • Develop work products, with limited oversight, to support client business challenges across multiple industries for a variety of highly complex issues; as well as direct and train junior staff in these areas.
  • Exercise independent judgment to analyze issues, interpret information, and select methods and solutions to resolve problems generally within standard practice guidelines.
  • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to complex business, strategic, infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk.
  • Assist the project team in interactive meetings with our clients to identify and analyze issues affecting their organizations and key stakeholders.
  • Assist in business development efforts in responding to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.
  • Assist project managers in client engagements, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget.
  • Meet performance goals and objectives as assigned, with respect to client-specific demands, stated delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring of junior staff, and all required training activities.

Qualifications

  • Elements of project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables.
  • Experience working with, acquiring, and analyzing large data sets related to asset inventory, condition, performance, asset-risk assessment, and costs.
  • Ability to leverage asset data to inform strategic decision-making, including asset replacement, rehabilitation, and disposal.
  • Working knowledge of and interest in local government organizational structure, with a specific focus on asset management strategies and policies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel including modeling and analysis for asset valuation, depreciation, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.
  • Experience with additional data analysis tools is a plus, including but not limited to Access, Power BI/Tableau, GIS, SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex asset management concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capable of presenting/sharing asset management analyses in an interactive work setting, incorporating stakeholder feedback to refine asset management strategies.
  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple asset management projects simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of Team. Always willing to step in and take on additional responsibility for the good of the Management & Technology Consulting team.
  • Strong attention to detail as asset management deliverables are subject to public review and scrutiny.
  • Willing to travel as needed and requires a valid passport, drivers' license and satisfactory driving record. Travel is expected to encompass up to 25% of the role.

Education and Experience
