We are looking for a Director, Business Development to join UnitedMasters!

What You'll Do
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to administer, and implement and optimize the existing business development strategies and tactics for the company.
  • Identify, evaluate, solicit, and follow-up with targets through multiple sales, communications, and marketing methods (eg, tapping network of existing brand CMO/Marketing contacts, cold calling and outbound communications virtual/in-person conference attendance, presentations, etc.)
  • Initiate and develop relationships with key prospects to identify and meet prospects' business needs.
  • Pitch capabilities and communicate unique selling proposition based on prospect needs and Translation's capabilities
  • Create and customize presentations and other sales materials along with scopes of work. Contribute to and oversee approach to other important sales tools such as case studies and awards.
  • Lead the company's response to RFPs, and work with a variety of teams and discipline to write and/or package credentials and manage the pitch proposal response process from start to finish.
  • Establish and achieve sales goals, metrics, and milestones. Track and report on progress and success, both to Agency Senior Leadership Team and Enterprise Sales Leadership.
  • Demonstrate passion for pop culture/multicultural entertainment/sports/brands and possess understanding of client's needs in these areas.
  • Capture prospect and market needs and trends and consult with executive leadership and internal teams for solution development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understand the life cycle of pitches for creative agencies
  • Be able to run an RFI + RFP process start to finish (work with resourcing to kick off, manage milestones, leadership reviews, scope development and negotiation)
  • Possess and encourage high degrees of initiative, drive, energy, accountability, creativity and maturity.
  • Have an innate ability to prioritize simultaneous projects, initiatives, and work streams, built on a foundation of excellent time management and organization.
  • Have the proven ability to work under tight deadlines and handle pressure, while consistently paying attention to accuracy and quality of work
  • Exercise the ability to quickly and effectively adapt to change.
  • Must be fully adept in creating impactful proposals, sales tools, decks, product one-sheets, etc.
  • Possess and deliver solid written and verbal communication skills, constantly developing your ability to present thoughts clearly, accurately, and succinctly in both forms of communication.
  • Demonstrate, evangelize, and live the core values of the agency
  • Have an existing network of contacts to tap for potential opportunities and leads and ability to grow this network over time
  • Incorporate the passion, excitement, and experience of one's MINOR in relevant ways that inform the quality and output of the agency's deliverables

Minimum Qualifications
  • 7-10 years experience in business development/sales/account management (creative/social agency, media company, content company are a plus), including exposure to and/or activity in: selling, negotiating, closing deals and developing relationships.
  • NY based for hybrid office role (permanent candidates only)

Preferred Qualifications
  • A keen passion for all things sports, music, entertainment and pop culture.
  • A respect and admiration for creativity
  • 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Digitally savvy, Google-suite proficient
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with key clients

Brands like Diageo, Ally, and ESPN come to UnitedMasters to partner with these artists and play a role in moving culture forward. In the past year, UnitedMasters subscribers have grown rapidly. Over the last year, UnitedMasters artists have used our platform to land sync deals with major brands including the NBA, ESPN, Overtime Elite, Bose, Warner Brother Studios and in the NBA video game 2k. These deals give them additional money for their work and increase their exposure.

Salary Hiring Range: $155,000 - $185,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
