DescriptionCoverent, and Orbis Operations company, is seeking an experienced Research Analyst, proficient in East Asian language, to work on a technical research effort that will include being responsible for conducting detailed research across multiple networks, in support of tailored government requirements. This position will be relied upon to engage with clients to obtain a deep understanding of their needs to apply to ongoing research.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with client at a working level and gain an understanding of their technical objectives and intent
- Conduct traditional media and social media analysis, tracing information across multiple inter- and intranet layers to provide relevant context and actionable data for niche clients
- Methodically conduct research in English and foreign languages to inform clients' understanding of relevant markets and digital environments
- Author concise, actionable, data-backed products and deliver them to clients', then elicit and implement feedback
- Recommend new data sources or tools to team and project lead for use
- Develop descriptive metrics that help to effectively describe market conditions
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in a consulting role in the IC.
- Master's degree in a social science or behavioral science preferred but not required for this position.
- US Citizenship
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Russian language competency (ideally 2/2 ILR score or ability to reach that quickly)
- Ability to periodically work from the clients' office and periodically from home
- Previous experience conducting open source research, analysis, or other professional activities relating to culture, media, or politics
- Demonstrated experience conducting internet and other research
- Demonstrated experience developing deliverable research products
- Demonstrated strong analytic skills
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with various Intelligence Community partners and their operations
- Proficiency with software and databases used in support of research and analysis for the U.S. Government
- Ability to work from home periodically
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
- Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
