Principal Engineer-Static
Support of mid to large projects and engineering at the Baytown Plant for all mechanical needs such as related to vessels, heat exchangers, and overall equipment engineering. Develops and approves equipment specifications, review and approval of vendor drawings and calculations, and general support of project managers for mechanical needs. Mentors, assists, trains, and develops junior engineers. Seen as a go to expert on all mechanical engineering needs.
Major Responsibilities:
• Capable of leading the mechanical effort on large projects.
• Prepares technical specifications for fabricated equipment such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
• Provides assistance and expertise to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
• Capable of directing the development of Engineering Standards in the mechanical area.
• Keeps abreast of new technologies.
• Works with manufacturers of new equipment and services to make presentations and conduct seminars.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science and Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in chemical or petrochemical static equipment design.
• Masters of Science and Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in chemical or petrochemical static equipment design.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in chemical or petrochemical static equipment design.
• Well versed in the use of equipment software such as PV Elite or Compress.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
• Well versed in the preparation and review of the following:
o Fabricated equipment specifications
o Technical bid evaluations
o Fabrication drawings
o Calculations
o Inspection and testing procedures from purchase through delivery
• Well versed in the use of equipment software such as PV Elite or Compress.
• Competent in the application of the relevant equipment codes and standards such as ASME, API and TEMA.
• Background in operability principals and maintenance requirements of the diverse machinery used in the chemical industry.
• Ability to travel 20% of the time.
• Willingness to pursue advanced education, training and professional registration.
Candidate Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree of Science 8+ years experience in chemical or petrochemical static equipment design
