  • Patient Ratios: 4:1
  • Unit staffing description: Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census. Nightshift has 2-3 PCTs depending on census.
  • Type of equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab
  • Documentation system: Meditech
  • Patient Experience requirements: Heavy cardiac patient population, CV surgery patients come to PCU after ICU. Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments, chart each one fully, usual PCU gtts
  • The PCU delivers highly individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care
    Job Requirements
  • Cardiac/telemetry experience, PCU and/or critical care experience
  • Advanced skills needed: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, early patient mobility
  • Procedures performed on unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs
    Schedule Information
  • Scheduling requirements: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, Self-scheduling, Schedule finalized 2 weeks in advance, Can accommodate block scheduling for night shift
  • Floating policy: Travel RNs float first, rotate floating, the oldest float date will float first

  • Unit Specifics: Highly individualized care for complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients
