Valley Medical Group (VMG) seeks an experienced Hematologic or Medical Oncology leader to serve as Associate Chair, Oncology Services, VMG, and Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care (VMSCCC), an exceptional community-based, multispecialty cancer program in northern New Jersey, is a collaboration between the Valley Health System (VHS) and New York's Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS). Professional services of VMSCCC are provided under the auspices of VMG.
The Associate Chair, Oncology Services, will work closely with the Chair in providing leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic vision for VMSCCC. The position will work collaboratively with senior leadership in VHS and MSHS to further develop programs of clinical care, research, education, and community outreach. The Associate Chair will partner with the VMSCCC Quality Department to assure continued accreditation of Valley’s cancer program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, as well as other accreditations. In addition, the Associate Chair will serve a critical role in directing the expansion of clinical cancer research. The Associate Chair will be a voting member of the VMG Executive Committee and will serve on the Medical Staff Oncology Service Line Executive Committee of the Valley Hospital (TVH).
As Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology, the role will focus on managing and expanding our QOPI-accredited Hematology and Medical Oncology practice and ensuring ambulatory and inpatient care of the highest quality. It is anticipated that they will play a key role in the development of a Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship.
This role will serve in a collaborative team with VHS, VMG, and The Valley Hospital (TVH) leaders.

We are located at The Valley Hospital’s Cancer Center on Valley’s 40-acre health care campus. The Cancer Center also houses 9 hematologist/oncologists, 10 surgical oncology specialists, 3 radiation oncologists, and 13 advanced practice providers. We offer ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion therapy, and radiation therapy on site. Valley’s programs are accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, the QOPI of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, the American College of Radiology, and the American Society for Radiation Oncology.

FACULTY & RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Valley’s accredited Internal Medicine Residency program will offer teaching opportunities, a Hematology/Oncology fellowship is being planned for 2026. Appointment to the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at a level commensurate with experience and academic potential is anticipated.
An on-site team at Valley provides support for our active research program, which includes investigator-initiated trials in addition to NCTN and industry-sponsored research. Protected time is provided for clinical trials, and intramural funding is available for investigators to develop innovative research programs. Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care is the proud recent recipient of a grant to fund initiatives to increase patients’ access to clinical trials and other opportunities for underrepresented patient groups.

- It is anticipated that the Associate Chair will devote 60% of their time to administrative responsibilities and 40% of their time to clinical practice. Depending on the candidate’s interests and track record, this can be modified to accommodate research activities

QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy
- Board Certification in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology required
- Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills
- Master's degree in business, health services management or public health preferred
- Proven record of programmatic development with a minimum of 5-7 years of administrative experience.
- Experience in cancer research including a record of publications
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in New Jersey required
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in clinical practice
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to cancer care and research
- Proven relationship-building skills with physicians as well as with all other key stakeholders
- Skilled in problem resolution and strong analytical abilities
- Ability to build trust and confidence with utmost integrity
- Ability to lead change and build consensus to support change
- Solid clinical and clinical data related analytical skills
- Ability to serve as a role model for collegiality and collaboration across the organization
