The Banner University Medical Center-Tucson Department of Adult Allergy and Immunology seeks a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our faculty to provide expert outpatient medical care to this subspecialty population and support of our three missions: research, education, and patient care.
We care for adult (and adolescents per provider discretion) patients with general allergy and immunology needs, including rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma, food allergy, drug allergy, primary immunodeficiency, eosinophilic diseases, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis. We provide full-service allergy and immunology care, including evidence-based testing and treatments according with best practices. We care for adult and adolescent patients from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We often evaluate patients for a second opinion, or to provide tertiary care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Arizona Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license obtained by start date
- Current prescribing privileges
- Current Board Certification
- Current CPR, BLS
- Team player with a desire to practice and engage in an academic setting
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on evidence-based medicine
- Apprenticeship training will be provided for an APP who is new to this subspecialty
Work Schedule:
- Full-Time (8 half-day clinic sessions and 1 administrative half-day per week)
- Shared call across providers (Inpatient call is not expected of the APP)
- Average number of patients per is day 5-8 per half-day session
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent, evidence-based and patient-centered care independently
- Examine patients; utilize skin prick/intradermal/patch tests, blood tests, and relevant procedures as diagnostic aids
- Diagnose and treat diseases and conditions with allergic or immunologic causes
- Participate in Allergy/Immunology inpatient consult service
- Refer patients to ancillary and consultant services when indicated
- Contribute to ongoing Quality Improvement/Patient Safety/Disparities Reduction Projects
- Potential for pediatric clinic time and research for highly qualified/interested candidates
