Why join this team? The Scripps Health Histology Lab services all our Scripps Health locations. Located on the 4 th floor of the Poole building, the lab features stunning views of La Jolla, state-of-the-art equipment and digital pathology workflows. The Histology Manager will oversee 30+ team members that make up both the histology and digital pathology teams, supporting 30+ pathologists systemwide.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversight and leadership of the activities and functions of Histology and Digital Pathology related services.
- Provide expertise in all areas of the department to include, but not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescent, and CISH staining.
- Participate in department strategic planning and contributes to success through effectively communicating goals and expectations to staff.
- Ensure effective use of system resources.
- Serve as reference to staff, Pathologists, and others in laboratory leadership.
- Ensure expenses do not exceed budget.
- Participate in standards of practice and process improvement activities.
- Oversee staffing matrices and possesses authority to hire, conduct performance evaluations, and discipline employees.
- Ensure policy and procedures are followed by staff.
- Ensure compliance with all regulating agencies.
- Responsible for day to day laboratory operations for histology related services serving multiple hospitals and clinics.
- Participate in system committees regarding laboratory services and improvements.

Qualifications Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: - Bachelor's degree plus 5 years experience in a histology laboratory, at least 1 of which in leadership.
Required Certification/Registration: - Histotechnician, HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist, HTL(ASCP)
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: - Master's degree
- QIHC(ASCP) certification
- CAP inspection experience
- Hospital or clinical lab experience
