Senior Network Engineer to support the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, California.
The Senior Network Engineer responsibilities will include: - Serve as Senior Network Engineer, planning and executing improvements to NHRC network hardware, software, and services.
- Administer enterprise email accounts, mailboxes, distribution lists and aliases.
- Evaluate and/or recommend purchase of computers, peripheral hardware, and software.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, and accessed on the network.
- Establish, maintain, and document host connections to the NHRC network.
- Troubleshoot network access problems and implement network security policies and procedures.
- Ensure network security access and protect against unauthorized access, modification or destruction of network components and stored data.
- Configure and administer network services such as Active Directory and file/print sharing, DHCP and group policies.
- Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures to address Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), firewalls, ports and protocols.
- Performs analysis of operational plans and capabilities; develops improvement recommendations optimizing network traffic patterns and performance characteristics.
- Develops and/or recommends resolutions to customer and service provider network and/or capability issues.
- Supports Service Delivery planning, activities, and analysis.
- Manages IP address planning and recommends improvements to routing design.
Qualifications and Education Requirements: - Clearance: Minimum SECRET clearance
- Security: Security+ or higher DoD authorized certification
- Education: Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science is preferred
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Network Administration/Engineering including technical skills in network administration, installing, configuring and troubleshooting network devices, network connectivity and network infrastructure device operating system software (IOS, firmware), VLANS, firewalls, ports and protocols to include security policies and controls (STIGS)
