Your Opportunity Stantec's Program Management Construction Management Group is seeking a Resident Engineer to work on large, complex transportation construction projects with construction values in excess of $500M. This position requires onsite in Honolulu, HI.
Your Key Responsibilities - Responsible for project execution, which includes planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the discipline specific technical aspects of projects.
- Actively engages in recruitment of key technical staff by screening resumes, interviewing prospective candidates and coordinating with HR professionals in designing employment offers based on the 'right person-right job' philosophy.
- Supports Design Phase constructability and construction sequencing reviews.
- Supports Construction Manager and project team during the Preconstruction Phase, developing procedures, tools and practices, and reviewing contract documents, for preparation and implementation of construction phase construction management services.
- Attend all pre-construction meetings in support of the Construction Manager
- Acts as the primary field point of contact with client, oversight representatives, regulatory agencies, etc. during the Construction Phase. Coordinates with field staff, third party consultants, utility companies, public agencies, sub-contractors, and general public. Serves as a representative of the company and its clients at meetings, presentations, and public hearings relative to assigned projects.
- The Resident Engineer will work in a field office at the project site and will be required to work in a manner that ensures personal safety as well as the safety of fellow employees by following project and company health and safety guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
- Directs all field office document controls and record keeping.
- Oversees construction oversight efforts to ensure the project(s) are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule, and enforces contractor compliance to plans and specifications.
- Reviews material test reports for compliance with specifications.
- Organize and chair scheduled project progress meetings.
- Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings to identify and resolve with the Contractors any potential problems.
- Manages the construction contractors and other on-site participants associated with the project to recognize and resolve project issues but does not direct the means or methods of construction.
- Ensure accurate field records are being maintained, such as daily reports, test reports, and as-built drawings. Hold regular staff meetings with the inspection staff to review and improve inspection and documentation procedures.
- Ensure that inspection documentation accurately and completely reports the work that has occurred and includes all items of non-conformance to the contract documents and all registered and approved change orders. Reviews daily inspection reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Monitors progress and delays of contractor's project schedule.
- Identify potential items of risk or claims arising from or as a result of contractor activities.
- Reviews, tracks, and responds to contractor change order requests, maintains potential change order log, prepares and negotiates contract change orders.
- Oversees post-construction phase, final deliverables, reviewing final pay request and punchlists, coordinating final acceptance inspections, tracking of warranties and preparation of final invoicing.

Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in discipline specific Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution with a minimum 10 to 12 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.
- May have 2 year technical degree/diploma with equivilent experience and expertise
- At least 4 to 5 years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of a wide range of medium to complex projects including Alternate Project Delivery (APD).
- Experience working on large complex projects with construction value in excess of $500M (transit experience preferred)
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Salary Range(s): - $133,300 - $200,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
