Director of Programming. This individual will lead our news, talk and programming teams and develop innovative content that captivates our audience. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of market trends, audience preferences, and the news and television & CTV/OTT landscape. The indicial must possess high level of organizational skills and ability to adeptly delegate assignments and set expectations.
Responsibilities- Content Development:
- Oversee the creation and curation of engaging programming that aligns with the network's brand and audience demographics.
- Collaborate with talent, writers, producers, and creators to develop original shows and newscasts.
- Strategic Planning:
- Analyze ratings and viewer feedback to refine programming strategies and enhance audience engagement.
- Develop and execute a long-term programming strategy that maximizes viewership and revenue.
- Scheduling:
- Design and manage the programming schedule, ensuring a balanced mix of content across various genres and formats.
- Coordinate with marketing and promotional teams to maximize visibility for new and returning programs.
- Budget Management:
- Oversee the programming budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for content production and acquisition.
- Negotiate contracts with production companies, talent, and other stakeholders.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the programming & news teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
- Market Research:
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies to keep the programming relevant and compelling.
- Conduct audience research to inform programming decisions and identify new opportunities.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, including operations, marketing, and distribution, to ensure cohesive branding, promotion, and delivery of programming.
- Attend industry events and conferences to network and explore potential partnerships.
Qualifications- Post high school education in Film, Television, Media Studies, or a related field and/or equivalent professional experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in media, with a proven track record in content development and audience engagement.
- Strong understanding of current television trends and audience preferences.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to drive programming decisions.
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for quality content.
- Informed on all current events and daily news nationally and globally
