Our highly esteemed law firm is seeking a seasoned Permanent Legal Assistant - Defense to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the legal field, particularly in defense. This role demands a highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient individual who has a deep understanding of litigation support, appointment scheduling, time management, and organization skills.

Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Legal Assistant - Defense, you will be responsible for:

1. Assisting attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings, and trial preparation.
2. Coordinating and scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates for attorneys.
3. Managing attorneys' calendars and ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
4. Drafting, editing, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence.
5. Maintaining case files and ensuring they are organized and up-to-date.
6. Conducting legal research and assisting in the preparation of legal arguments, applications, declarations, and motions.
7. Liaising with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals in a professional manner.
8. Assisting in the preparation of billing statements and tracking billable hours.
9. Performing administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, managing mail, and maintaining office supplies.
10. Assist office manager as needed.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must have:

1. A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in defense.
2. Proficiency in litigation support, appointment scheduling, time management, and organization skills.
3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
5. Experience in drafting and editing legal documents and correspondence.
6. Proficiency in legal research and the use of legal databases.
7. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
9. A paralegal certification or equivalent legal qualification is preferred but not required.
