Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead the efforts to update a large capital / mine closure project estimate including underground and open pit mining sites; ensure pricing for commodities and services is current with today's market conditions and pricing.
• Provides overall estimating technical expertise and coordinates activities amongst consultants and internal stakeholders on the projects.
• Provides professional expertise and analysis in the resolution of complex estimating problems.
• Prepares multi-discipline, conceptual and definitive cost estimates for Capital Projects.
• Reviews estimates prepared by other estimators to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the scope of work and industry best practices.
• Prepare standard procedures and present Estimate Reports and Presentations.
• Provide subject matter expertise and assist project management, operations, and contracting group personnel with analyzing and challenging quotes.
• Advises lower-level estimators of company estimating methods/procedures and provides estimate breakdown direction.
• Keeps abreast of significant developments in cost estimating by close review of technical literature, contacts with contractors, visit to areas of construction and attendance at professional and technical meetings.
• Utilizes computer-estimating programs.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Membership in the Association of the Advancement of Cost Engineers (AACE) or equivalent.
• Business or engineering preferred but will consider a technical college certification or trade background with subsequent relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of work breakdown structures, estimating strategies and, techniques & tools (Hard Dollar, Prism and/or Cleopatra).
• Thorough understanding of construction, contracts, and terminology.
• Experience with large international mining companies in leading the estimating efforts on significant mining & metals projects in Canada is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 7 years' experience in estimating mining or mineral processing projects for an Owner's team, EPCM or EPC contractor.
