Position Summary:
The Childhood League Center, a licensed early childhood education program, has an exciting opportunity for a Custodian to work 40 hours per week during the school year, 7:30am-4pm (8-hours per day, excluding lunch); and one week after the school year ends and one week before the school year begins.
The Custodian maintains the school building and grounds to ensure full and productive use of the facility, and to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place to in which to learn, play, and develop. We seek someone who is high-energy, collaborative, and flexible and committed to promote the safety, health and comfort of students, families, visitors, and staff in school and on the grounds.
Required qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent
•At least two (2) years' experience in building and grounds operations
•Ability to successfully pass a background check (BCII&FBI)
•Ability to be flexible with work hours (i.e., occasional early mornings or late evenings to prepare for events or address emergency situations)
•Ability to initiate and complete work orders
•Have a valid driver's license
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•The Custodian will maintain custody and care of the grounds and facilities, keeping them in clean, orderly, and in safe condition including landscaping (mowing, weeding, etc.), clean and sweep litter, including removal of dead animals that may be on playground or on premises; maintain playground area; always keeps grounds neat and clean and waters plants as needed
•The Custodian will develop and oversee the facility and grounds blueprint maintenance/replacement plan
•Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency
•Room set-up and tear down
•Maintaining our Center fish tank (water level and feed fish)
•Maintain and perform monthly fire drills and tornado drills, including all paperwork and perform inspections of fire extinguishers, fire egress lights and fire exit lights. Work with vendor to ensure quarterly/annually inspections occur on time for both Center and kitchen
•Responsible to ensure maintenance, repair and installations occur
•Removes snow and ice from facility walkways, sidewalks, and playground area
•Basic understanding of custodial equipment and work methods
•Other duties may be assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job does not usually exercise supervisory responsibilities, however, may supervise/oversee on-site vendors performing general maintenance.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Hourly Rate: $16.25 to $17.25 w/benefits
