As a part of Marmon Holdings, Inc., a highly decentralized organization, we rely heavily on people with the aptitude, attitude, and entrepreneurial spirit to drive our success, and we're committed to attracting and retaining top talent.POSITION SUMMARYOperates the thermoplastic extruder line (usually with another Aerial Cable Operator) and consistently meets or exceeds internal and/or customer specifications in a safe manner with minimum scrap.Shift: Monday - Thursday, 7 PM - 7 AMTraining Shift: Monday - Thursday, 7 AM - 7 PM or Friday - Sunday 7am -7pmWe are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Night Shift Operators. After successful completion of training, you will transition to the night shift and become eligible for shift differential and training completion pay.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS•Complies with company safety rules at all times during working hours and ensure the safety ofhimself/herself and others at his/her operating station.•Responsible in keeping equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.•Works in a professional manner, punctual and highly dependable.•Mechanically sets up the entire line by selecting and installing appropriate extruder tooling andassociated line components needed to manufacture the varying cable designs described by theengineering specification.•Consistently monitors the supply of raw material to ensure a continuous operation.•Maintenance and operation of the welder used to weld conductors together to ensure continuousoperation of the line.•Set-up and operation of the pay-off and take-up equipment.•Takes preventive measures on line components that can lead to unwarranted downtime.•Performs required measurements with company approved measuring devices to ensure that allaspects of the extrusion process meets or exceeds the required specifications (Reference SLP 024).•Generates product identification tags for extruded cable products and maintains accurate recordkeeping and data collection of all pertinent information required by Hendrix, including line qualityrecords.•Preparation of extruded cable for electrical testing when applicable.•Takes corrective action to ensure quality product.•Participates in scheduled team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement projects.•Participates in maintaining ISO certification.•Adheres to applicable System Level Procedures (SLP).•Responsible to be the Emergency Action Warden for sector 5. Take-Up operator is considered theprimary. Operator is considered secondary and is responsible to assume duties of the primaryEmergency Action Warden if he/she is unavailable or is not able to fulfill this functionEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONSMust understand the operation of the entire line including:•Conceptual understanding of extrusion process.•Conductors•Assembly, disassembly and cleaning of extruder heads.•Selection and installation of extruder screws.•Tooling selection.•Compound conveyor system.•Dryers.•Power switches.•Temperature, air, water controls, and other associated line instrumentation.•Operation of payoff and take-up equipment.•Coiling and ground wire cutting Operations•Internal/industry codes and abbreviations used to identify compounds and conductors.•ISO requirements pertaining to the Aerial line.•Principles of conductor welding (dies, etc.)•Product quality, effect of:•Material contamination•Voids•Strand shield protrusionSKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSPosition requires individuals with proven mechanical aptitude.
