Summary Work under the general direction of a supervisor or facility supervisor. Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. Responsibilities Duties require walking, stooping, bending, standing, and working in tiring positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries items weighing 10-40 pounds and occasionally handles material weighing over 45 pounds. Performs a full range of warehousing duties in a large warehouse or as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility. Receives shipments. Develops and establishes appropriate layout for placement for incoming items. Performs or directs the unloading of trucks and freight cars. Screens shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies. Identifies items damaged in shipment. Handles a significant variety of hazardous materials cognizant of specialized handling and storage requirements for each item. Takes appropriate precautions for all hazardous material. Updates records to reflect current stock levels for all items stocked. Bar-codes incoming items as appropriate. Directs items to specifically prescribed warehouse or storage locations. Identifies appropriate locations that facilitate quick retrieval of items being stored to meet future requirements. Coordinates receiving and shipping schedules. Conducts and directs inventories. As senior employee, provides work direction to other employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. All qualification requirements must include experience performing duties equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.
