  • HCA Healthcare (Parent) has an open nursing position at Rapides Regional Medical Center located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The role is for a Travel RN in the Medical ICU within the South Tower. The Medical ICU unit has a bed count of 26 and maintains a patient ratio of 2:1. RNs and a Unit secretary/COVID runner make up the unit staffing, providing total care. Technology used includes ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, Balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, glucometers, and iMobile phones.
    Job Requirements
  • Candidates must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients and possess ICU experience, along with a positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, a desire for excellence, self-motivation, good communication, and people skills, and the ability to work in a diverse environment. Advanced skills such as ventilator management, critical care drip knowledge, thorough assessment skills, and proficient knowledge with cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems are necessary.
    Schedule Information
  • All nursing shifts are twelve hours from 7 AM to 7 PM, including every other weekend and holiday requirements. Self-scheduling is available within certain guidelines.
    Unit Specific Information
  • The Medical ICU's Unit Guidelines/Policies are to be attached alongside the hospital specifics. Procedures performed in the unit include intubations, cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placements, IABP management, and CRRT among others.
    Additional Details
  • The unit has achieved the HCA Unit of Distinction award, finishing overall as the #2 ranked ICU in HCA in 2019. Quality measures are highly maintained. The staff benefits from new equipment and technology with several staff members, including managers, being nationally certified.
