OverviewnnM Health Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more. If so, then the 4th Floor Ortho Spine unit may be an excellent fit for you! This 26 bed adult medical/surgical unit focuses on patients with an orthopedic diagnosis, specifically with patients facing total joint replacement and spinal surgery. The Ortho Spine unit is a team oriented, highly effective, and dedicated workforce.nnResponsibilities Job DescriptionnnJob ResponsibilitiesnnThe Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.nnProvides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include:nnPersonal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding,nnSkin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams,nnOral hygiene,nnSpecimen collection/testing,nnPosition/ambulating,nnChanging linens,nnPromptly answers call lights.nnAssists the nurse in monitoring patient condition.nnAccurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.nnPlaces patient on/off monitors or equipment.nnReports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner.nnAssists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.nnOrients patient and their family to the environment.nnAssures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.nnTransports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies.nnAssures patients get to appointments on time.nnUses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.nnCleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment.nnOrders and stocks supplies.nnAccurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form.nnPerforms other tasks as needed.nnQualificationsnnRequired QualificationsnnLicense/Certification/RegistrationnnBasic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.nnAND ONE or more of the following:nnSuccessful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.nnOrnnSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)nnOrnnCurrent enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.nnOrnnCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
