Capital Area Pediatrics offers accessible, comprehensive pediatric care to families at five practice locations throughout Northern Virginia. For both sickness and health, generations of families have chosen Capital Area Pediatrics to provide outstanding care and an exceptional patient experience. We are currently hiring Patient Care Assistants. This is an entry level position, ideal for candidates interested in developing foundational healthcare skills.
Scheduling Requirements
Patient Care Assistants (PCA), must be able to work at least three full shifts per week, including at least one evening shift. Patient Care Assistants must also participate in a weekend rotation.
AM Shift: 8:15AM-1:00PM
PM Shift: 12:30PM-5:30PM
EVE Shift: 5:00PM-8:30PM
Weekends: 8:45AM-12:30PM (Sites are open either Saturday or Sunday, depending on location).
Candidates able to work 20+ hours per week will be prioritized.
New Hire Orientation
Please note that all new hires are required to attend New Hire Orientation. New Hire Orientation mandatory, and is two days (Monday & Tuesday) from 9:30AM-4:30PM the first week of employment.
Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to the exam room, gather patient history, measure vitals, and document all information in the patient's medical chart.
- Process patients during check-in and check-out. If necessary, collect insurance and registration information, as well as appointment scheduling.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a confidential manner.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family.
- Supporting business operations through administrative projects and tasks at the practice business office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment.
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment in a healthcare degree program preferred.
- Gap Year students preparing for Medical, PA, or NP school are encouraged to apply.
- Adherence to Capital Area Pediatrics immunization and testing requirements.
- Clinical experience is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment.
