We need Medication Aides to join our team at Heritagespring Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in West Chester, OH .
You’ll assist with administering of medications and treatments to Assisted Living residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing.
$23 to $27 Per Hour - (based on licensure and experience)
PLUS we offer additional shift differentials for evening and weekend shifts!!
MA-C Medication Aide Certification Required
Must have an MA-C certification to function as a certified medication aide in a nursing home.
You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Following the policies & procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents
- Reporting any medication error, clinical issue or resident need that you are unable to address to the charge nurse and/or nurse manager
- Assisting in developing and implementing procedures to discover when, where, and why medication errors take place, & how they can be prevented
- Performing administrative requirements, such as completing & submitting necessary forms, documentation, etc.
- Maintaining a friendly, productive, working relationship with other members of the department of nursing, attending physicians, the Medical Director, & pharmacists
- Attending & participating in care plan meetings as necessary. Participating in the development and implementation of comprehensive resident assessments as necessary
Clinical / Drug Administration:
- Accurately and safely preparing, administering, & documenting the oral, nasal, otic, ophthalmic, inhalation, and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility & that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician or the Medical Director
- Accurately measuring, recording, & reporting the vital signs of residents
- Verifying the identity of patients receiving medication
- Following facility procedures regarding documentation & storage of medications
- Following facility policies & procedures regarding the destruction of medications;
- Assisting in carrying out these rules (including documentation requirements) under the direction of the facility pharmacist or Director of Nursing Services
- Clarifying any order or treatment regimen as needed
- Ordering medications; returning all discharge medications for credit in compliance with federal & state regulations
- Maintaining clean, orderly medication room & cart
- Completing any other required forms & documents in accordance with company policy state and/or federal regulations
You’ll Need to Have:
- An active certification in the state to practice as a medication aide
- An active certification as a State Tested Nursing Assistant in Ohio
- Documentation of such certification upon application for the position
- The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, & the general public
- The ability to clearly relate information concerning a resident’s condition
