  • CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A FAST-PACED, HIGH VOLUME AND HIGH ACUITY ER.

  • NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS
    Schedule Information
  • Unit: ER
  • Shifts: 7a, 9a, 11a, 3p, 7p (all 12 hour shifts)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holidays: 2 out of 3 majors
    Unit Specific Information
  • Ratios: 1 to 4
  • Tele: Phillips--must read and interpret - No tele techs
  • Vents: May have to hold vented patients while awaiting bed - RT manages vent settings/RT equipment
  • MDs and Midlevel's: Run both; mid levels generally manage fast track
    Additional Details
  • ALL MYJOURNEY MODULES NEED TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. TRAVELER WILL BE PUSHED BACK IF ALL MODULES ARE NOT COMPLETED. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Unit specific orientation: Max of 2 shifts
  • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Have a pediatric zone where 0-12 year old's go if lower acuity; nurses will work all areas; all diagnosis from minors to critical care, CVA, STEMI, sepsis, cath lab in house including hybrid suite; STEMI receiving center (JC and EMS); primary stroke center; very robust Sepsis program; high volume of critical acuity patients; high volume of ICU admissions from the ER
  • Additional Notes: ER is broken down into two sections ER North and ER South and will run two charge nurses; large amount of paramedic and nursing students which rotate through; also have student nurse externs as well; will run a triage nurse (3 during peak times) around the clock
