Our client is seeking a Building Technician for the Montreal area. As a Building Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial buildings. Your role will involve ensuring safe, functional, and welcoming facilities for occupants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, buildings, and related systems (e.g., dock levelers, lifts, harnesses, gas detection systems, mechanical sweepers, tractors, grease traps, rain and sanitation pumps, etc.)
Respond to tenant service requests
Upgrade equipment and handle general maintenance tasks as needed
Oversee special events and projects according to scheduled timelines
Monitor contracted work and report any discrepancies
Collaborate closely with contractor team leaders to ensure building standards are met
Inspect the building’s functionality in all areas
Arrange for door hardware repairs, plastering and painting, and tile work, and perform minor tasks as needed
Keep maintenance and service areas clean and organized
Oversee minor maintenance and/or repairs of building lighting, electrical, and plumbing equipment
Regularly inspect security systems (alarms, emergency lights, sprinklers, fire extinguishers)
Provide support to the management team during the manager's absence
Handle urgent, unforeseen tasks on-call or outside regular mall hours when projects require completion
Inspect building exteriors and ensure maintenance and repairs are conducted adequately
Be available on a rotating schedule during weeknights and weekends for emergency calls
Support supervisors with special assignments
Update information related to various risks and validate with the manager
Participate in health and safety meetings and inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed
Manage the key and access control systems
Oversee scheduling for door control systems and energy-saving systems
DEP in general building maintenance, DEC in building mechanics or equivalent
Experience in building maintenance will be considered an asset
Sense of initiative and resourcefulness, ability to multi-task and solve problems independently
Proven mechanical aptitude
Ability to work as part of a team, good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
Familiarity with various Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in building management systems and lighting control systems
French and English*, both spoken and written
