Join Natural Resources Canada as a Field Electronics Technologist!
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has responsibility to continuously monitor, investigate, and report on natural hazards such as earthquakes and space weather events that occur in Canada and operates seismic, geodetic, and space weather monitoring stations across Canada in this capacity. The findings and alerts contribute to the safety of Canadians and critical infrastructure operations.
NRCan, through the Canadian Hazards Information Service (CHIS), is looking to support operation of these monitoring stations by adding members to an existing national-scale Field Operations team.
As a Field Electronics Technologist, you’ll undertake a variety of duties such as:
- Designing, constructing, and operating electronic equipment and geophysical monitoring instruments at remote stations throughout Canada, including the northernmost regions, as well as overseas.
- Station maintenance, remotely monitoring the transmission of data from the stations to CHIS data acquisition hubs and promptly taking corrective actions to ensure operational needs are met.
Diverse and multi-faceted duties provide opportunity for expanding knowledge and expertise in a wide range of subjects.
If you have extensive experience as an electronic technologist or technician, proficient in operating advanced test equipment and electronic devices, and field related experience we’ve got the job for you!
