About the role
We are currently looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join the architecture team and play a crucial role in Intact’s growth. You will provide architecture and technology leadership to project delivery teams as they develop end to end solutions, and integrations to services & APIs supporting our ever-evolving ecosystem.
You will have key involvement in building our initiatives and in providing expertise and counsel ensuring technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business. Architects recommend solutions that account for total cost of ownership, risk and leverage (or advance) strategic enterprise assets.
You must possess a balanced mix of technical and business skills, as you will often work with business and technical leaders in the organization. This role requires leadership and involvement in all stages of the solution definition, from the conceptual architecture creation to the solution development and definition, and even more specific areas depending on skills and interests.
Your responsibilities:

- Solution Design
- Document and model solutions
- Problem solving with the different teams and various stakeholders

- Participate in product selection when a new product or technology is required
- Participate in the development of standard & patterns definition with architects
- Facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
- Help the enterprise architect define metrics to measure and demonstrate enterprise technology value
- Manage and develop the architecture for a broader scope of projects, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or initiative.
- Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
- Contribute to the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from future to current.
- Consult with application and infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.
- Liaise with the business and your team to review solutions
- Participate in the development of roadmaps & strategies. Make sure the goals of the business are aligned with the appropriate solutions and that we are making an impact and adding value for our organization.
- Define and document the application architectures, jointly with the product tech lead and taking into account the demands of the projects
- Act as a technical mentor among the development teams
- Document all solution architecture design and analysis work
- Assist in the development to define business vision and communicate to all stakeholders
- Collaborate with business constituents, EA team members, project teams and staff in various IT functional areas as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above.
What you bring to the table:
- Demonstrated knowledge & architecture experience in:
- Architecture (micro / macro / monolithic services, APIs)
- Service oriented architecture
- Event driven architecture
- Application architecture
- Distributed architecture
- Data architecture and data modeling

- Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
- Ability to understand the long-term (big picture) and short-term perspectives of situations
- Strong technical background (platforms, languages, protocols, frameworks, open source etc.)
- Past experience related to Commercial and Specialty insurance products and industries would be an asset
- University Degree in Information Technology/Software Engineering or any equivalent combination of education and experience
