    Certification Details
  • Education: Must have completed an approved Surgical Technician and first assistant program.
  • BCLS Certification.
    Job Details
  • 4 10-hour shifts Monday - Friday 6:45am-5:15pm
  • Position Overview: The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant assists the surgeon during a surgical procedure carrying out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation.
  • Essential Functions: Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.
  • Works closely with the OR Coordinator to insure no conflicts in the OR schedule or individual cases occur.
  • The non-physician first assistant practices under the direct supervision of the surgeon.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and other cognitive education with additional education in the use of surgical instruments on tissue versus the handling of instruments.
  • Responsible for assuring that all supplies and equipment are available for a surgical case in collaboration with other OR team members.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
    Job Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have completed an approved Surgical Technician and first assistant program.
  • BCLS Certification.
  • Must have had experience in OB, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Dental, Urology, and general surgery cases.
  • Must possess advanced surgical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation – use, care, and cleaning.
  • Ability to manage instruments in the variety of cases listed above.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.
  • Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.
  • Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.
  • The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required.
  • The ability to perform detailed work required.
  • The ability to work harmoniously with employees required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment.
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.
    Schedule Information
