We’re looking for a dedicated and passionate Senior Manager of Communications and Advocacy to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead a dynamic group of communications professionals, focusing on delivering exceptional internal communications and fostering strong media relations. You’ll also be at the forefront of shaping our advocacy efforts to support BCAA’s interests, as well as those of our Members and customers. This is a hybrid role based at our beautiful Burnaby, BC Head Office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our 4567 Canada Way office and/or are not looking to relocate to BC will not be considered for this position.

You know how to use effective methods to measure and share the success of communications and events, helping us see what’s working and where we can improve.
What you’ll do:
Lead and inspire our communications team to create and implement strategies for key projects like impact reports, product launches, and community initiatives.
Safeguard our BCAA, EVO Car Share and Evolve bike brands by developing smart risk management communication plans, keeping our values and personality front and center, and preparing for any potential issues.
Build strong media relationships and handle media inquiries with ease. Enhance our spokesperson strategy and represent the company when needed.
Offer valuable guidance to internal teams on complex situations, helping to craft sensitive communications and coach spokespeople.
Manage our PR and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate effective communication strategies into various projects, ensuring they reflect our company culture and boost team engagement.
Develop and implement targeted strategies to promote or advocate for key initiatives that support BCAA’s Purpose and benefit our Members and customers, with guidance from our external GR advisor.
Help strengthen and nurture relationships with key government contacts and industry partners to advance BCAA’s interests.
Manage and analyze budgets by assessing resource needs, recommending operating and capital purchases, monitoring expenses, and taking corrective actions while maintaining high-quality vendor relationships.
Support and grow your team by providing regular feedback, coaching, and recognition, while also managing hiring, training, and career development. Foster a positive team culture, ensure skills align with goals, and handle performance management with HR’s support.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
At least 5-7 years’ experience in a social impact, senior marketing, communications, business intelligence or community leadership position.
Experience in creating business strategies that blend short- and long-term goals with social impact objectives and ways to measure success.
Experience in developing and producing advertising campaigns, with a strong grasp of digital and social media channels.
Demonstrated experience working at a senior level to ensure good corporate citizenship.
Bonus Qualification! If you’ve got experience in Public Relations or as a Corporate Spokesperson, that’s a big plus!
The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 12.5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 20%.
