About The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Projects & Change Management, the Senior Consultant acts as a senior leader within the Program Management Office, with general accountabilities including project management relating to business processes, data analysis and program development, implementation and evaluation. The Senior Consultant will also have regular project-related responsibilities, including:
Acting as project manager or senior business analyst on a variety of corporate projects, including: Designing and implementing continuous quality initiatives; monitoring and evaluating program content, delivery and expenditures for effectiveness, consistency and quality of service delivery
Providing expert advice and support to all staff in relation to specific programs and operations
Serving on various committees and stakeholder groups to provide expert advice as required
Responsible for the overall initiation of their specific project ensuring that the proper project scope and definition is developed, that a proper business case for the project is in place, that the mandate, budget frame and documentation packages are in place, that a detailed project plan is developed and supporting project management processes are in place, that necessary staff are in place and that all is approved by the project sponsor prior to start up
Ensuring the project is designed and executed in a manner that incorporates the principles of change management
Responsible for ongoing project control, including managing and monitoring project costs, project data and project schedules; anticipating and avoiding project risks; ensuring high quality deliverables or end products; ensuring a satisfied sponsor and appropriate reporting to Steering Committee; maximizing the use of resources and maintaining a motivated team
Participating in the development of new business processes
Creating various documents related to data analysis and project management, including project plans and project status reports, research, communications and information related to the project
Organizing and facilitating in-house and out-of-office meetings, focus groups, workshops, etc., and day-to-day monitoring of financial and operational issues respecting project development
About You
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
The ability to demonstrate and exercise a high level of analytical and organizational skill in keeping with project management and business analyst practice
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to challenge existing process assumptions
Experience conducting business analysis of root causes through data interpretation, process mapping, and needs assessments, an asset
Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders to provide appropriate coaching and critical thinking on problems
AND
A university degree in a related field (preferably in the sciences or business fields)
A minimum of 3 years experience working in a project management or business analysis capacity, combined with formal or informal leadership experience
A certificate in project management is required
