Role At a Glance The Interior Design Principal will take a lead role in the design and delivery of high-quality interior projects, spearheading efforts to develop innovative design concepts and manage project execution to ensure all aspects meet the highest standards of excellence and client satisfaction. This role demands a blend of creative vision, technical expertise, and project management skills, alongside a deep understanding of industry trends and client needs.

What You Will Do The following skills and responsibilities are essential to effectively manage an interior design strategy, ensuring the firm's growth, innovation, and client satisfaction.
Leadership Skills
Visionary Leadership: Ability to set a clear and compelling vision for the firm’s design strategy and inspire the team to achieve it.
Team Management: Proficiency in managing and motivating a diverse team of designers, project managers, and other professionals across multiple geographies.
Team Mentorship: Provide consultation and mentorship to junior designers and other team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Share knowledge and expertise to help develop the skills of less experienced staff.
Decision-Making: Strong decision-making skills to navigate complex projects and organizational challenges.
Design Expertise
Design Knowledge: Deep understanding of interior design principles, trends, and best practices.
Creative Thinking: Ability to generate innovative design solutions and push the boundaries of conventional design.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit) and knowledge of materials, finishes, and furnishings.
Strategic Planning
Market Analysis: Skills in analyzing market trends, client needs, and competitive landscape to inform design strategy.
Business Acumen: Understanding of business operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
Project Management: Ability to oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Client Relations
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate design concepts and strategies to clients and stakeholders.
Negotiation: Ability to negotiate contracts, fees, and project scope with clients and vendors.
Client Management: Skills in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and exceeding their expectations.
Collaboration and Networking
Business Development: Establish a business development strategy to position the interior design team for future success. Establish annual sales goals for the team.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
Networking: Skills in building a network of industry contacts, including suppliers, vendors, and potential clients.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Ability to integrate insights and expertise from various disciplines to enhance design outcomes.

Sustainability: Knowledge of sustainable design practices and the ability to implement them in projects.
Innovation: Commitment to staying current with industry innovations and integrating new technologies and methodologies into design processes.

What You Bring to the Table Degree/Diploma in Interior Design or related field;
Minimum of 10 years of experience
Registration with AAA as a licensed Interior Designer;
Passionate about design and project management;
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships;
Driven, self-directed and capable of working independently;
Strong understanding of how texture, light, and color interact to create environments;
Excellent time management, organizational skills, and efficiency in generating project workflows;
Positive, patient, and adaptable individual;
Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills;
