PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $21.90 - $32.50. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary
Responsible for operating autoclaves and other equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment, including power equipment as applicable. Also responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays and packs.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
- Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
- Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
- Clean and maintain department equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education - High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent
Experience - Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician
Credentials - Required within 1 Year: Natl Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD or other nationally recognized certifying body and
- Required within 1 Year: CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG
Skills - Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required)
Department / Location Specific Notes Peace Harbor Medical Center - Florence:
- A minimum of three (3) months' experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) month's experience in other medical related role.
- Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required.
- Must be able to manage conflict effectively and professionally.
- Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on meeting time sensitive deadlines.
- Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions Lifting
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
- Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
- Squat/ kneel occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Mental/Visual
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
