Summary: The purpose of the General Technician I position is to enable employees to operate multiple machines depending on departmental needs to cover work load, vacations and other challenges. Training and flexibility and mechanical aptitude are required in learning numerous machines
Job Duties - Operate proficiently a group of machines to include Saw, Brinnell, ID Blast and OD Blast
- Cleaning as required and assigned by Group Lead and/or Foreman
- Material handling as required
Job Requirements - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Ability to read/write and comprehend instructions, use computer to enter data
- Hazcom and other machine specific safety training required
- Training time varies at machine station
- Must be able to follow Production Data Sheet information or Routing sheets, record information and perform simple data entry into inventory system depending on the job, must be able to read and calculate weights from a scale, read measuring tape in standard inches and fractions and perform basic math.
- Should be capable of differentiating steel grades and product
- Work objectives are set by immediate supervisor.
- Follows "standard operating procedures" such as a policy/procedure manual
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Use overhead crane to move steel tubes
