Transportation Driver

Summary for Transportation Driver

The primary purpose of your position is to schedule appointments and dispatch transportation aids to transport residents from the Facility to physician offices, dental appointments, eye doctor appointments, audiology appointments and for treatments, x-rays, MRIs and CAT scans, as ordered by MD with the oversight from the DON and Administrator. Order, organize, and maintain appropriate Par levels for resident supplies to ensure floors are stocked to meet the needs of the residents.

Qualifications:

Specific Requirements of the Transportation Driver

  • One (1) year experience operating a Company vehicle.
  • One (1) year experience in the Medical Field
  • One (1) year experience in Central Supply
  • Must possess class C drivers license.
  • Must have a CNA license
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to schedule and dispatch appropriate transportation to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the knowledge and ability to understand budgetory requirements and maintain appropriate PAR levels related to resident supplies
  • Job requires minor lifting, walking, and bending.
Responsibilities:

Experience of the Transportation Driver

  • Transport residents to medical appointments and recreational activities according to established schedules and allotted times.
  • Assist residents entering and exiting the facilitys vehicle.
  • Drive facilitys vehicle to events and activities outside the facility, as necessary.
  • Coordinate with facility medical and nursing personnel regarding transporting residents to scheduled medical appointments.
  • Coordinate with Activities Director and Activities Assistant regarding transporting residents to scheduled activities.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment (i.e., triangles, fire extinguisher, and first-aid kit) is available and in good working condition.
  • Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs for the Facilitys vehicle.
  • Assist in the moving and arranging of equipment and supplies to assure that the Facilitys vehicle is ready for scheduled appointments and activities.
  • Maintain an incident and accident-free driving record.
