Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance, selecting the most economical and efficient shipping method and appropriate containers. Safely pack items to ensure secure delivery.
- Prepare bills of lading and compare items to be shipped against work orders to ensure accuracy of quantities, destination, and routing.
- Receive and unload incoming materials, comparing packing slip information with purchase orders to verify shipment accuracy. Process return shipments from customers and vendors when necessary.
- Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and log inventory for shipment or receipt.
- Inspect shipments for damages or defects, record discrepancies or damages, and promptly notify supervisors and/or purchasing personnel.
- Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtain authorized signatures for accepted items.
- Trace lost shipments and handle customer claims of lost shipments. Initiate proof of delivery documents.
- Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records as needed.
- Operate pallet jacks and/or forklifts to load and unload supplies and equipment. May operate company vehicles for delivery purposes.
- Assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area.
- Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and control standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Successful candidate will possess: - Successfully pass drug test screenings throughout employment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to follow directions and instructions accurately.
- Uphold safety standards and prioritize safety in all tasks.
- Ability to safely lift up to 70 lbs.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and communication.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and multitask.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
