Summary:
The Junior Software Developer reports directly to the Manager of Research and Strategic Data Analysis, and plays a key role in supporting the Estimating department at Clearway. In this position, the developer will assist in building and maintaining internal applications to improve the efficiency of Estimating processes.
Location: Clearway's Head Office – Maple, ON.
Hours of Operations: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the development team to design, build, and maintain internal facing applications using Python.
Identify areas for improvement within the systems tools and develop new features to enhance functionality and user experience.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
Conduct thorough testing of new features and updates to ensure they meet quality standards and function as intended.
Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage code repositories, ensuring collaborative and organized development practices.
Create and maintain new tools and processes to streamline and improve the efficiency of the estimating process.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues in existing applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of system changes and new features.
Learn the HeavyBid estimating software and current estimating processes, applying gained knowledge to future developed tools.
Learn the basic structure and function of estimating and costing levels, packets and resources, and apply structure as part of process development.
Requirements:
0-2+ years of experience building applications with Python
Experience working with JavaScript is a plus
An undergraduate from a four-year college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
Experience with Git for version control
Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills
Excellent MS Office skills
An interest in the Construction Industry
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada – no work permit sponsorship is available for this position.
