The University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine and UT Health East Texas is searching for a Founding Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Women s Services. The Department Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be responsible for all realms of clinical, administration, teaching, research and strategy as it relates to the growth of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This inspirational leader manages the policy creation and enforcement and recruitment and retention of faculty, while spearheading the advancement of the Women s Health service line across UT Health East Texas.
Required Knowledge, Education, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or foreign equivalent.
- Board certification: ABOG
- Track record of effective leadership, including experience and success in research, education, and clinical administration
- Success in building, expanding and elevating programs with vision and collaborative team spirit.
- Ability to develop and implement new programs.
- Knowledge of creating and managing budgets
- Preferred: At least 5 years of experience in academic leadership
About the Department:
- Currently there are 12 labor and delivery recovery postpartum beds and two postpartum/antepartum rooms. This number is expected to increase to approximately 18 postpartum/antepartum rooms and a well-baby nursery following an upcoming expansion.
- UT Health Tyler averages 850 births per year
- The NICU currently has nine beds but will have approx. 16 beds after the expansion.
- Family medicine residents round with pediatric hospitalists in our hospitals.
